I recently carried out a review of the FTSE 100 company websites which revealed that that 94% of companies failed to offer a mobile-enabled careers section to help candidates easily navigate and search for jobs.
With some Recruiters now seeing 30% of their overall traffic coming from a mobile device, by not offering a mobile-enabled careers section the FTSE 100 companies (in reality ANY company) are in danger of losing top talent through offering a bad user experience and damaging their brand and reputation.
Here are a couple of examples of the mobile careers sections that were mobile-enabled:
Recruitment Needs To Catch Up
If you compare the mobile-enabled careers section experience to other industries then recruitment clearly has some catching up to do when it comes to a mobile strategy. The retail industry is well ahead because they realised early on that if they didn’t cater for a mobile audience they would lose sales. However, when you are recruiting you are in effect also selling. You are selling the job, the career opportunity and the company to potential hires.
With new smartphones and tablet devices being introduced all the time, and the new 4G mobile network being part rolled out at the end of 2012, the use of mobile to search and apply for a job will only increase. Therefore every company that is serious about recruiting (not just the FTSE 100 companies) should be pushing mobile higher up their agendas for the rest of the year and beyond.
